About Heaven’s Embassy Baptist Church
We are an Independent, Fundamental Baptist Church. We are Baptists because we believe the Bible is the only reliable and authoritative source for spiritual knowledge and guidance, and we follow its teachings alone. We are independent because we see no Scriptural principle that grants human authority over the local church, since it is led by its Head, the Lord Jesus Christ. We are Fundamentalists because we hold that certain core truths must be accepted and taught for any doctrine to be considered Biblical Christianity—such as the inspiration and authority of the Bible; the deity, humanity, sinless life, sacrificial death for others’ sins, and physical resurrection of Jesus Christ; and Salvation by grace through faith, not based on human works or deservingness. Additionally, we believe in maintaining true Christianity by adhering to these doctrines and staying separate from those who compromise or turn away from such truths.
At our core, we are convinced that the Bible is God’s Word and means exactly what it says. We take seriously the importance of learning the Bible and following God’s guidance based on its teachings. Those who have never experienced this have no idea what kind of love, joy, and peace God can produce in our hearts when we do. Our desire is to share this with those around us.
We are not mean-spirited about our beliefs; we believe and follow the Bible’s teaching: “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” However, we do not think it is loving to know that someone is rejecting God’s way to heaven and to let them believe that the Bible says they are okay. We take seriously God’s command to teach others what He has taught us so they can experience the joy of knowing Him as we do.
Our Pastor
The grandson of a Fundamental Baptist Pastor, Pastor Paul Robelen was blessed to grow up in a church-going Baptist family from birth. You could even say that he was going to church nine months before he was born! Of course, going to church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than going to a garage makes you a car. Through his church teachings and his mother’s guidance, at age 5, he realized he was a sinner who deserved Hell and trusted in Jesus’ death and resurrection on his behalf, calling on Jesus to save him.
Although he always expected to follow in his father’s footsteps and become an aeronautical engineer, the summer before college, Paul sensed and responded to God’s call on his life to become a preacher. Following that call, he graduated from Indiana Baptist College with a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies.
After college, he spent 10 years as an assistant pastor in Paris, Illinois, and helping his brother, who was a pastor in Burgaw, North Carolina. He then spent several years as a traveling evangelist, helped start a Fundamental Baptist Church in Farmville, Virginia for six years, and then spent two more years as a traveling evangelist.
Early in the work in Farmville, Paul’s heart was united with Betsy’s, and he married the most wonderful Christian woman he knows. They have been serving God together since 2017, and they have three beautiful girls: Priscilla, Abigail, and Hannah Grace.
In March 2024, God showed Paul the need for a Bible-preaching church in Providence, and he began the process of planting Heaven’s Embassy Baptist Church.
